Tammy Smith, the Town of Speedway parks director, invited residents to the town's Public Safety and Service Community Day at Leonard Park on Thursday, Sept. 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
"Come out to Leonard Park on Thursday, September 11, from 5PM to 7PM," Smith said. "Come out for some community fun and engage with the departments that work around our town, the Speedway Fire Department, the Speedway Police department, along with other departments that service the community." She said town vehicles and equipment will be on display and that the Speedway Police Department will be grilling hot dogs while the Speedway Fire Department will provide water and chips. "In addition, the town leaders will be here serving up Fundays ice cream," Smith said, and the Speedway Public Library will sponsor a foam cannon for children.
The announcement described the event as family-oriented and aimed at providing residents an opportunity to meet department staff, see equipment up close and learn about local services. Smith encouraged families to bring children and noted other local groups and businesses will be on hand to share information about services and programs.
The broadcast did not list additional logistical details such as parking, accessibility services or whether the event requires registration. No permitting or public-safety conditions were cited in the announcement.
