A board member reported Sept. 15 that Missoula Concrete returned a $10,160 deposit after the county abandoned plans to install a vault toilet at Conners Field.
The board had paid a 50% deposit in 2024; the member reported that rising site-preparation and ADA-compliance costs raised the total project cost to roughly $50,000, more than the originally anticipated $20,000. The vendor sold the county’s contract to another buyer and refunded the deposit; board staff said the funds will be returned to the same Parks and Recreation accounting number.
Board members asked that the item be removed from future agendas. A board speaker said, “permission to take it off the agenda now?” and the chair agreed; the speaker reported, “It died. Erase it.” The board did not schedule any replacement project or new expenditure at the meeting.
The board said staff is working with county accounting to ensure the returned funds are deposited to the correct county account.
