Commissioners authorize $188,800 from Industrial Development Revolving Fund to help Warrenton Fiber replace dock anodes

Clatsop County approved a private partner funding agreement with Warrenton Fiber to pay for installation of sacrificial anodes on the Tansy Point dock in Warrenton.
Assistant County Manager Monica Steele told commissioners the county previously reviewed the request in a work session and that the request is consistent with prior uses of the Industrial Development Revolving Fund. The city of Warrenton had purchased the anodes for $31,300, and Warrenton Fiber requested an additional $188,800 to cover installation.
“Warrenton Fiber currently employs around 90 employees,” Steele said. She said the requested funds would leave the revolving fund with a healthy remaining balance and that the project is expected to be completed quickly.
A commissioner moved and the board voted to authorize the county manager to sign the private partner funding agreement for $188,800. The board took the action by voice vote; staff recorded the motion as carried.
County staff said the work supports marine operations that move wood chips and cargo through local terminals and that the investment helps preserve local jobs and port infrastructure.
