"There is an anticipated cost about $85,000," Doug said. "The grant from the Emerson Foundation is $25,000. There's $56,000 that's been raised by the museum." He said the county will manage construction and contracting under county purchasing policies and that any shortfall could be covered from the park improvement line.
A motion was made to amend the resolution and move it to Ways and Means. A member moved and a second was recorded; the motion passed on a voice vote with no recorded opposing votes. The chair instructed county staff to work with the clerk (Lynn) to ensure needed amendments were prepared.
Why it matters: the grant and local fundraising would allow the county to replace an exhibit structure deemed beyond its serviceable life and to rehouse museum collections safely. Managing the funds through county accounts will make the board and county purchasing rules applicable to the capital project.
