The Carbondale Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission voted to approve the town’s updated fees and charges (Appendix A) after staff walked commissioners through a set of changes for parks, the new pool and the recreation center.
Eric Bresling and staff described adjustments including: a new day-of “double-dip” pass allowing users to access both the rec center and pool on the same day; a season-pass early-bird discount window; 20-punch passes for youth, seniors and adults; and a proposed “season add-on” option for full-season pool access tied to an annual rec-center membership. Staff also flagged and committed to correct formatting and pricing-placement issues in the draft appendix (for example, duplicate “monthly” language and swapped 1- and 3-month prices for certain categories).
Commissioners discussed keeping resident pricing consistent, display and heading clarity in the appendix, and removing a monthly pool add-on that staff confirmed will not be offered. Staff said Gateway RV park fees remain unchanged pending sewer improvements. The commission also discussed park rental scheduling and signage to reduce conflicts among multiple users on busy days.
Several commissioners suggested clearer appendix headings, and staff agreed to revise the draft to remove duplicated or misstated monthly language and to add clearer definitions for “double-dip” and season add-on packages before final publication. The commission moved and seconded approval of Appendix A “with the suggested edits,” and the motion carried by voice vote.
The approved changes will be incorporated into the budget and Appendix A; staff will finalize language and correct the identified pricing and heading items before the fee schedule is posted.
