The Los Angeles City Council confirmed Miss Lattimore to serve as City Clerk on Tuesday after a brief presentation and councilmember remarks.
Miss Lattimore, introduced to the full council as a mayoral nominee recommended by the government operations committee, told the chamber she has worked for the city for 26 years and with the office of the City Clerk for 24 of those years. "As city clerk, I will be continue to be committed to achieving excellence within our department," she said, adding she will "leverage modern day technology and optimize all available resources" to streamline contract management and payment processing.
Councilmembers who spoke in support emphasized Lattimore’s experience. Councilmember Hutt said she looked forward to working with Lattimore; Councilmember Padilla praised Lattimore’s accessibility and technology focus. Lattimore thanked the mayor and committee members for the nomination.
The clerk called the roll for the confirmation and recorded the vote. The council proceeded with the formal I vote and the clerk announced the ayes. Council members did not use the public comment period to debate the nomination, and the chamber moved on to other business.
Ending: Lattimore told the council she intends to "cultivate a culture of continuous improvement" in the clerk's office and highlighted a goal to reduce reliance on paper motions during meetings.
