Council names and reappoints commissioners to police oversight, utilities and ethics panels

The Long Beach City Council on Sept. 16 introduced and approved a slate of appointments and reappointments to several city commissions.
Council Member Duggan recommended and the council welcomed Edgar Campbell (Police Oversight Commission), a District 2 resident and former investigator with the Los Angeles County Alternate Public Defender's office. Former Council Member Al Austin was appointed at-large to the Utilities Commission. Jessica Gillette was appointed to the Ethics Commission and Raul Lenorve was reappointed to a second term on the Ethics Commission through 2029.
City Auditor Laura Dowd presented additional appointments she recommended, including Robert Gill (noted for accounting, IT and cybersecurity experience) and Andrea Gunn Eaton (legal professional with experience in public interest law and higher-education counsel roles). The council voted to carry the motion.
