Rome schedules two public meetings on parks master plan; draft recommendations due Oct. 31

Councilor Sparaya told the Rome Common Council on Sept. 10 that the city will hold two public sessions on its parks master plan, on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and Wednesday, Oct. 1, both at 6 p.m. at the Pente Field Clubhouse.
The sessions will present the same material, Sparaya said, and are intended to give residents another opportunity to review data gathered so far. “They've been making a lot of headway,” Sparaya said, adding that much raw data is still being analyzed.
Sparaya said Fisher Associates expects to produce draft recommendations and a report by Oct. 31, a draft final report by Dec. 31 and a final revision in January 2026. She told the council that the city has collected 423 responses overall and 39 responses from children who use the parks.
For more information, Sparaya said residents can view materials online at the project web address she provided during the meeting. The council did not take formal action on the plan at the Sept. 10 meeting; the item was an informational update.
The timeline released by Fisher Associates means the council could receive specific recommended projects and priorities in late October, leading into any funding or implementation discussions later in 2025 and early 2026.
Councilors and staff did not debate or vote on the plan at the meeting; the report remains in the data-analysis stage and will return to the council for subsequent review when draft recommendations are complete.
