Lewiston council approves minutes, hears mayor's report on budget surplus and property offers

The Lewiston City Council approved the minutes from its Aug. 19 meeting and adjourned after hearing department reports and the mayor’s report.
A council member moved to approve the Aug. 19 minutes; the motion received a second and carried unanimously.
In the mayor's report, the mayor said the city recorded roughly $528,000 more revenue than expenses for the current period and that next month council staff will propose budget adjustments to allocate those funds. “We ended up being $528,000. Dollars. So a little over half a million dollars of more revenue over expenses,” the mayor said. The mayor said the council would consider moving more funding into streets, emergency services and a new public works building in the business park.
The mayor also reported the city had “received a full price offer on that property” referenced earlier by a resident and that the council had accepted a full-price offer from a buyer named Cindy Wright on another lot, though the mayor said no sale had closed yet. The mayor said the council will present budget adjustments next month and would provide additional details then.
