Equipment repair: The commission approved a repair estimate to split and repair a 2010 John Deere M-series tractor with a boom-over attachment and cab to address a transmission issue. The quoted repair cost was $24,688.12; staff said the machine has fewer than 3,000 hours and is not under warranty. The repair was approved so the county can maintain vegetation-control capabilities into winter months.
Neighborhood Revitalization properties: County staff presented a packet of properties submitted by the City of Ottawa for the neighborhood revitalization program. Commissioners agreed to approve the packet but asked staff to verify whether 1021 West Fourth (referred to in the meeting as 1021 West Forest/West Fourth—parcel to be confirmed) falls within the program area shown on updated maps; the commission instructed staff to hold that property pending verification before it is placed on the consent agenda next week.
Annex parking lot: County staff presented three bids for a slurry-seal/refinishing of the annex parking lot. The lowest bid for the slurry coat was $20,000 from a Kansas City contractor (bid listed as "Smart Pricing SlurryCo" in the packet) with paint for lines quoted at $2,200 more; another bid with lines included was $23,925. Commissioners authorized the county administrator and staff to spend up to $25,000 to proceed, with staff directed to prioritize cleaning and surface prep and to choose the contractor that can meet the specifications and timing. Commissioners said the work would likely require shutting the lot for several hours or a weekend day.
