Board approves consent agenda and authorizes recruitment for multiple advisory vacancies

At its Sept. 16 meeting the Washington County Board of Commissioners approved the consent agenda and authorized staff to recruit applicants for a series of board and commission vacancies.
Chair Harrington moved to approve the consent agenda, which the meeting packet described as containing 13 items: two sets of minutes; five items from Clean Water Services; one item from the Office of Community Development; one item from Facilities, Fleet and Parks; one item from Human Resources; and three items from Land Use and Transportation. The motion carried unanimously, recorded as 4 to 0 in favor.
The board then discussed multiple vacancies on advisory bodies and authorized staff to recruit applicants through Oct. 28 (or until all vacancies are filled). The list of openings the board announced included the Aging and Veteran Services Advisory Council; the Civil Service Commission; Columbia-Pacific Economic Development District (COG PAC) with a residency requirement; Developmental Disabilities Council; Enhanced Sheriff Patrol District/Urban Road Maintenance District Budget Committee; the Metzger Park/Enhanced Sheriff Patrol advisory committee (with residency in the Metzger Park area); North Bethany County Service District for Roads Budget Committee (North Bethany residency); Northwest Area Commission on Transportation (western County residency); Property Value Assessment Appeal Board; Public Health Advisory Council; Public Safety Coordinating Council (PSCC); Rural Roads Operation and Maintenance Advisory Committee; and the Enhanced Sheriff Patrol/County Service District for Lighting No. 1 budget committee. The recruitment motion also carried unanimously, 4 to 0.
During both votes the clerk called for votes and the chair announced the recorded outcomes; the meeting record states, “The motion carries unanimously 4 to 0.”
Later in the meeting the board moved to adjourn the business session and the motion passed 4 to 0.
