The Fair City Council authorized staff on Sept. 10 to post for and hire a second full‑time maintenance employee, a position the council said is already budgeted.
Council members said the position was included in the current budget with approximately $90,000 allocated to cover salary and benefits. Members discussed hourly pay ranges during the meeting, suggesting a low end for entry-level applicants and a higher cap for candidates with experience; examples discussed included ranges from roughly $16–18 up to $22.50 per hour. The council directed staff to post the position with a target timeline to complete hiring activity around Oct. 1.
Council member Brown moved to authorize the hire posting; Council member Singleton seconded the motion and the council voted in favor. Staff said they would form an interview committee, publish the posting and return to council with candidates or a hiring recommendation.
