Cumberland County chambers promote Sept. 25 Business Expo and Job Fair at Rowan College

Organizers of the Cumberland County Business Expo and Job Fair said the event will be held Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Rowan College of South Jersey — Cumberland campus gym; admission for the public is free.
The expo is a joint effort of the Bridgeton, Greater Vineland and Greater Millville chambers of commerce, and organizers said it combines employer recruiting with a business showcase. "It's free admission, and you have an opportunity to visit with business people to learn about their products and services, or you can look for a job," said Laurie Latour of the Bridgeton Chamber of Commerce.
Organizers said the event matters because it connects local employers to jobseekers and gives small businesses a low-cost way to reach customers. "We expect to have 60 or more" exhibitors, Tony Stanzione said; earlier in the broadcast panelists also cited counts of "30-plus businesses" looking for employees and "around 40 to 50" exhibitors, and organizers later said 39 registered exhibitors were actively hiring. The varying totals were given on-air by the event hosts and reflect figures provided by the expo committee during the conversation.
Event logistics and costs: the gym at Rowan College of South Jersey’s Cumberland campus is the site, with food trucks in the parking lot. Exhibitor fees are $200 for chamber members and $300 for nonmembers; organizers said there is a reduced fee for home-based businesses and nonprofits, and registering by Sept. 19 saves $25 off the exhibitor rate. Organizers urged jobseekers to bring resumes and dress appropriately because many employers will be conducting on-the-spot interviews.
Sponsors and participating organizations named on-air included Rowan College of South Jersey; the Cumberland County Improvement Authority ("The Authority"); Townsquare Media; Quinn Broadcasting; SNJ Today; The Bridgeton Beacon; The Vineland Voice; South Jersey Water Conditioning Service; and Atlantic City Electric. Public-safety and employer participants listed by the hosts included the Bridgeton, Vineland and Millville police departments; the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office; the county sheriff's office; the Federal Correctional Institution at Fairton; Complete Care Health Network; Cooper University; Cape Regional; Avenues to Independent Living; Millville Public Schools; County Department of Corrections; Delaware River and Bay Authority; and several manufacturers, credit unions and small businesses.
Organizers said the expo mixes hiring and non-hiring exhibitors: some booths are focused on recruiting (law enforcement agencies, healthcare providers and manufacturers were repeatedly named) while others will simply promote goods and services or sell products. On-air examples of exhibitors that said they were hiring included Complete Care Health Network, Cape Regional, Cooper University, Millville Public Schools, Avenues to Independent Living, and various local manufacturers and credit unions; retailers, artisans and service vendors were described as exhibitors who will be on-site to network or sell.
Food and family features: the event will include several food trucks approved by the county health department; hosts named a shaved-ice vendor (Kona Ice), a dessert vendor described as a youth entrepreneur selling mini pancakes and boba drinks, a chicken-cutlet truck, and a hot-dog/cart vendor noted for french fries. Organizers asked visitors to support those vendors, which will be positioned outside the gym.

The hosts closed by thanking event partners and urging county residents to attend: "Please stop by the Cumberland County Business Expo and Job Fair at the Rowan College of South Jersey Cumberland campus gym," Tony Stanzione said. "Lots of parking, easy to get into the gym, and the food trucks are right there."
