Clinton Police promote Jake Fowers to lieutenant; deputy recognized for service

Clinton Police Chief Sean Stoker announced the promotion of Officer Jake Fowers to the rank of lieutenant during the Sept. 9 City Council meeting and recognized Deputy Mike Allred for recent community outreach following a critical incident.

Chief Stoker described the promotional process as “thorough” and “competitive,” and said Fowers’ “commitment to service, sound judgment, and strong leadership will serve the citizens and the department well.” Stoker told the council that Fowers had completed the department’s promotional process and had already taken the oath of office, so the department planned to proceed with a badge pinning without repeating the oath.

Stoker also asked the room to recognize Deputy Mike Allred, who the chief said survived a “horrible incident” in Tremonton with his canine and has since been active in honoring officers killed in that event and aiding community healing. There was no formal vote connected to the promotion; Stoker characterized the selection as the outcome of the internal promotional process.

Council members and staff joined officers and family members for photographs following the pinning. No ordinance, budget change or council action was reported in connection with the promotion.
