Victorville Planning Commission chair resigns after nearly 24 years

Chair Kurth announced his resignation from the Victorville City Planning Commission at the conclusion of the Sept. 10 meeting, effective immediately at the end of the session.
In a prepared statement read to the commission, Kurth said he submitted a resignation to the city because a personal move placed him outside city limits, making him ineligible to continue serving. "It is with a heavy heart and profound gratitude that I announce my resignation from the city of Victorville planning commission effective upon the conclusion of 09/10/2025 tonight's planning commission meeting," Kurth read.
Kurth said he served on the commission for nearly 24 years and described the experience as an honor. He said his commercial real estate business will remain based in Victorville and he expects to continue working with the city in that capacity.
Fellow commissioners and staff thanked Kurth for his years of service and indicated the city would seek a formal acknowledgment and further recognition of his tenure at a future meeting. No formal action was taken at the meeting on succession or appointment timing.
