PERRYTON — The PERRYTON ISD Board of Trustees on an unanimous vote approved keeping the district's micro-purchase threshold at $50,000 and approved the list of 2025–26 teacher appraisers for the district's T-TESS evaluation cycle.
Superintendent Brown told trustees the $50,000 threshold allows staff to purchase without seeking board approval for individual transactions and said the higher federal threshold is $100,000. "This is just the threshold that allows us to, to purchase without coming to the board for approval," Brown said. The motion to keep the threshold at $50,000 passed 7-0.
The board also approved the district's list of appraisers to carry out the 2025–26 T-TESS (Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System) evaluations. That motion, described as routine by Brown, passed 7-0. Board members discussed that most classroom walkthroughs and formal appraisals are expected in November, December, February and March. Trustees noted one name, Miss Savala, appeared to be missing from the published list and asked staff to return with that clarification at a subsequent meeting.
Trustees approved the minutes of prior meetings, covering Aug. 25 and Sept. 8, by unanimous vote (7-0). The board set its next regular meeting for Oct. 20 by consensus; no roll-call vote on the date was recorded. The meeting adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
Why this matters: Raising or lowering a district procurement threshold changes how much school staff can authorize without formal board approval and can speed construction- and materials-related purchases during active projects. Approval of appraisers determines who may conduct teacher evaluations under T-TESS during the 2025–26 school year.
