A district staff presenter outlined a multistage schedule: solicit committee members now (a QR code and outreach efforts were already under way), finalize committee rosters for presentation to the board on Oct. 8, develop the scoring rubric in October and November, review vendor submissions and present a draft scoring rubric on Nov. 12, and identify vendor finalists on Dec. 10. Committee feedback will be incorporated into a first read to the board in February 2026, with the goal of board approval in March 2026 so district purchasing can proceed.
The presenter said the district had already received about 22 expressions of interest to serve on the adoption committee, including seven parents — a response the presenter described as unusually strong. The district plans to assemble a committee that includes classroom teachers across grade levels, special education representatives, principals, specialists, parents and district staff.
Board members asked about the social-media outreach timeline and the deadline for community members to apply; staff said social media posts were prepared by the marketing team and that the solicitation deadline was Sept. 25, allowing a short window for responses. Staff also noted the formal RFP for vendors will be presented for approval at the October meeting.
Why it matters: Instructional-material adoptions affect classroom instruction across grade levels, can incur multi-year licensing or purchase commitments, and require stakeholder participation to align materials with district needs.
Next steps: Staff will return Oct. 8 with a formal list of committee members and will present the draft rubric Nov. 12 and selected vendor list Dec. 10. If the timeline holds, the board could take final action on materials in March 2026.
