Granbury council approves up-to-$250,000 renewal with Buchanan Technologies for managed IT services

The Granbury City Council voted 6-0 to approve a statement-of-work renewal with Buchanan Technologies for the city’s managed service provider (MSP) services, authorizing the city manager to execute an agreement not to exceed $250,000.

City staff said the renewal updates pricing under an existing master service agreement rather than creating a new master contract. Councilmember Rodriguez asked whether the renewal locks the city into a three-year commitment; IT staff representative Chris Collins said the master agreement remains in place and that the vendor must be given notice to terminate, which staff described at different points in the discussion as 90 days and possibly as short as 30 days. The council moved and seconded the renewal, and the motion carried unanimously.

City staff framed the item as an update to pricing and services rather than a replacement of the master agreement. Collins told the council that the city retains the ability to terminate the services with advance notice and that staff would move to an alternate provider if contractual performance was inadequate. The mayor noted that the consent agenda that night also included other equipment and service expenditures; the approved $250,000 cap pertains to the managed services statement of work specifically.

Councilmember Rodriguez made the motion to approve the statement-of-work renewal; Councilmember Corrigan seconded. The vote was recorded as 6 in favor, 0 opposed. The council did not record individual member votes in the transcript beyond the motion and second.

The renewal authorizes the city manager to execute the agreement and sets the spending cap for the renewed statement of work. Staff said the renewal will allow continuity for city IT operations while pricing and service levels are updated under the existing master service agreement.
