Board staff presented and the governing board approved a resolution accepting and ordering a petition for a minor boundary adjustment between Maricopa Unified School District and the Casa Grande districts.
Mister Harmon explained the item as a "collaborative effort" among Casa Grande Elementary, Casa Grande Union and Maricopa Unified and said both Casa Grande districts had already approved the petition. He told the board that the next steps are to submit the petition and resolution to the Arizona Department of Revenue and to Pinal County offices including the Board of Supervisors, the county school superintendent’s office and the county elections office to complete the legal and administrative steps required to effect the change.
The board then moved, seconded and voted to approve the resolution. The roll call recorded Shontay Rothschild, Carolyn Lopez and Patty Cutre voting "Aye." Harmon answered board questions about the timeline and next steps but did not give a final effective date; staff said further actions at the state and county level are required before the change takes effect.
The board did not identify any outstanding objections at the meeting and referred to the next procedural steps to county and state offices.
