Board advances student services agreements, ESY addenda and settlement items; approves DJ for homecoming

At its Sept. 23 meeting, the Schuylkill Valley School District board's committees recommended approval of several student-services contracts and settlement items for the 2025-26 school year, advanced extended school year (ESY) payments and approved student-activity arrangements.
The committee recommended approval of an ESY addendum and associated third-party trust agreement for student number 5030, representing payment for the recent summer ESY program. Committee members characterized the payment as for services already provided and noted it should have been processed earlier.
The board also advanced a settlement agreement and release for student 5030 (executive files attached), and a separate settlement agreement for student 3613; those items were presented to the committee with executive files and were recommended for approval.
The Vanguard Schools Addendum B ESY agreement and a CHOR Youth & Family Services agreement for the 2025-26 school year were on the agenda and advanced for board consideration.
The board also considered and advanced extracurricular trip approvals to the FFA ACES event and to the state legislative leadership conference and approved a one-time DJ contract: the committee recommended Rick Bean serve as DJ for the homecoming dance at a cost of $800 for three hours; the motion was approved 9-0 when recorded.
For an eighth-grade camp, the board recommended approval of a Letter of Agreement with Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation establishing camp use subject to solicitor review; a board member specifically asked for review of indemnification language by the solicitor before final approval.
Most student-services contractual and settlement items were advanced by the committee; some items included executive-session materials that were reviewed by the board and its solicitor prior to the recommendation.
