Board reviews bills, kitchen-equipment disposal and fire-suppression quote; naming-rights policy noted

The Schuylkill Valley School District committee reported receipts and committee recommendations on finance and facilities items at the Sept. 23 meeting, including a recommendation to ratify payments totaling $1,625,562.94 and discussion of kitchen-equipment disposal and booster interest.

The finance committee presented payment ratifications for Aug. 11 through Sept. 23, 2025: general fund $1,539,614.29; cafeteria fund $25,929.32; capital projects fund $57,790.60; high school/middle school activity fund $2,228.73, for a grand total of $1,625,562.94. The committee recommended the board approve or ratify payment of those bills as presented.

Facilities staff asked the board to approve placement of three pizza warmers and two condiment tables for potential reuse by the boosters or athletic department. Staff described the condiment tables as outdated and of limited usefulness and said pizza warmers had not been used since COVID; the committee planned to consult boosters before disposing of or reassigning the items.

For high school kitchen fire suppression repairs, the committee recommended approval of a quote from Pletcher Fire Protection in the amount of $2,310.

During buildings and grounds discussion, a board member asked about the district's naming-rights policy. Staff identified Policy 701.1 and noted it appeared to have been adopted in 2013; the board asked staff to review the policy and provide any recommended updates in light of recent projects such as the turf field and new track.

The committee also raised the potential donation of studio equipment from Berks Career & Technology Center. The district is attempting to confirm the equipment list and faculty interest before accepting any transfer.
