Vestibule change orders covered by PCCD grant; McClore water pressure issues and boiler work discussed

The McKeesport Area SD facilities report on Sept. 11 said change orders for a vestibule safety project will be paid from a PCCD grant and that the project’s anticipated completion date is now December. The board was also informed of a planned Twin Rivers boiler replacement and of recent water-pressure problems that disrupted operations at the McClore building.
"All these change orders are coming out of the PCCD grant that was originally slated to fund this project, so there's no cost to the district," said Mr. Seroqui (board member) during the facilities report. He said the project could not be completed safely until demolition work uncovered conditions that required the change orders.
Facilities staff described a series of water-service disruptions affecting the McClore building, which sits near the top of a service line and is particularly sensitive to pressure loss. According to the facilities report, a water main break in White Oak late the previous Thursday drained a water tower and reduced system pressure; the district could not clean the building and moved to a virtual learning day as a result. A subsequent brief power outage at a nearby pump station again caused pressure loss later in the week.
Facilities and maintenance staff were thanked for their response; the report noted coordination with the Rainbow Volunteer Fire Department during an incident the previous Thursday. The boiler replacement at Twin Rivers was listed on the agenda for approval and was described as needed to ensure adequate heating for winter.
Board members approved related facilities items on the consent agenda during general business. The facilities report also noted ongoing work to process back-to-school maintenance requests and to close out summer projects.
