District completes summer facilities work: secure entrances, field irrigation, HVAC and classroom upgrades

Carlisle Area School District facilities staff presented a summary of summer capital and maintenance projects completed across district buildings, highlighting security, instructional-space and athletic improvements.
Facilities manager Carissa Laymon showed before-and-after photos of art-room casework replacement in the McGowan Building, noting improved storage and larger sinks in ceramics rooms. At Swartz, the office secure-entrance renovation created a visitor vestibule and a transaction window to separate visitors from interior staff space.
Work at the district stadium included irrigation trenching and installation, blacktop seal coating, track repainting and replacement of the stadium fence. Facilities staff also described rooftop HVAC replacements at Hamilton (six units) and ongoing HVAC work at Fowler, elevator upgrades at Fowler, water-heater replacement at Bel Air and several mini-split and data-closet replacements across campuses. Concrete repairs targeted trip hazards; staff also completed line painting and crack sealing at multiple sites.
Board members praised the preventive, incremental approach to facility maintenance, noting the value of addressing safety and security projects now to avoid larger backlogs. Laymon said no student workers were used on these projects this summer but the district will consider that option in future summers.
Administrators emphasized that many projects are not visible to the public but are necessary to keep buildings safe and operational; the committee thanked facilities staff for managing the work within budget constraints.
