CalSTRS released a request for proposals for a governance consultant and outlined a timeline that would put a contract in place by May 2026, staff told the Governance Committee.
Brian Barto, staff member, said the RFP was released the previous Friday and that the response period will be roughly one month. He said staff anticipates evaluating proposals in late October and scheduling finalist interviews with the committee at its January meeting. Barto said the planned award is a five‑year contract with two one‑year extension options.
The committee was told the intent is to have the contract in place by May 2026. Committee members asked clarifying questions about the finalist interview format; staff said finalists would be interviewed in open session similar to prior finalist interviews.
No public comment was offered on the RFP item during the meeting. Staff signaled the procurement timeline is just beginning and will return to the committee when finalist interviews are scheduled.
