City staff updated the council on the work to revise parts of the Ojai general plan, including an economic‑diversification effort (tourism management and creative economy) and a Climate Action Plan.
Staff said earlier plans for consultant‑led focus groups were reassessed after community feedback and that the team will instead deploy a survey containing both quantitative (multiple‑choice) and qualitative (open‑ended) questions, followed by pop‑up engagement events and public open houses. Community Development Director Lucas Seibert told the council the survey will be available for council review before it is published.
Why it matters: The work will inform municipal policy on tourism management, creative‑economy support, climate action measures and other elements that affect land use, circulation and public amenities. Council members emphasized the need to ensure the survey covers resident concerns about tourism impacts, creative‑economy opportunities and public safety elements (which the city is separately updating).
Ending: Council received the progress report and staff said they will circulate survey questions to council for review prior to public release and will schedule pop‑up outreach and open houses as the project advances.
