Withdrawal Study Committee hears Francestown presentation; committee votes not to recommend Temple withdrawal
Summary
The ConVal Withdrawal Study Committee heard a presentation from the Francestown School Committee on its intent to pursue withdrawal and, after discussion, voted unanimously not to recommend Temple’s withdrawal petition to the full board.
A representative reported to the Contoocook Valley School District board that the Withdrawal Study Committee met on Sept. 11 and heard a presentation from the Francestown School Committee explaining its motivations, staffing model and a cursory financial summary in support of pursuing withdrawal.
The committee then considered Temple’s petition to withdraw from ConVal. The transcript reports that Temple rescinded its petition and, after "a lengthy discussion on the procedural aspects" of the vote, the Withdrawal Study Committee voted unanimously to not recommend Temple’s withdrawal from ConVal. Committee members said they will produce and approve a final report and submit it back to the full board; the committee also stated it will be dissolved as it pertains to Temple.
The board did not take an immediate vote on withdrawal matters during the meeting; the Withdrawal Study Committee will finalize its report and return it to the board for further action.
