District staff presented the strategic-plan communication and community-engagement metrics as a standing agenda item and summarized results from a back-to-school parent survey.
Miss Williams introduced the item and said the district’s strategic plan sets quarterly priorities and that each board meeting will include a standing update on a different priority area. The district’s goal was three community feedback and survey sessions by June 2026; Williams said the district has completed one such session (the back‑to‑school survey) with more than 300 responses.
Nut graf: The survey indicated strong initial family experiences but identified communication gaps the district intends to address via targeted outreach and in-person feedback sessions.
Key findings Williams reported: more than 300 parent responses with representation from every school but heavier responses from Brevard High, Brevard Middle and Brevard Elementary due to student counts; about 95% of students felt welcomed on their first day and about 90% of families said they felt prepared. Williams said approximately 80% of parents rated their back‑to‑school experience positively and 85% found it easy to contact teachers. She also noted 32% of respondents had not yet logged into their campus portal at the time of the survey.
Williams said 81% of respondents agreed with the district’s four strategic priorities when shown the priorities graphic, while 11% wanted more information; 46% said they would definitely attend a face‑to‑face feedback session. The board noted that the strategic-plan updates will rotate monthly (October: achievement metrics; November: internships and other goals) and that directors responsible for each priority will present future updates.
Ending: The district will post the full slideshow and survey responses online for public review and schedule additional face‑to‑face feedback sessions based on expressed interest.
