Monthly capital project update: roofing, tanks and schematic design progress reported

Allison, a district staff member leading the update, said contractors completed work on an unused underground storage tank project for Brevard-area schools, but a damaged tank at Rosman High’s site will not be replaced until next summer because an insurance filing delayed procurement; a temporary above-ground tank remains in place. She said the geotechnical firm agreed to cover expenses related to the temporary tank until replacement is installed.

Allison said 3D modeling of existing conditions is complete and security-vestibule design is underway with school-staff engagement.
Board members thanked custodial and county staff for coordination and asked clarifying questions about student‑traffic coordination and schedule impacts; staff said coordination has gone well and that the CMAR will help refine scopes and budgets.
Ending: Architects and engineers will continue schematic design and the subcommittee will refine budgets and scope once CMAR services commence; staff will provide monthly updates to both the board of education and county commissioners.
