Long-range facilities update: Hopkins parcel research, window and cupola plans advance with historic-commission review

Linda (LRFP presenter) updated the board on the district's long-range facilities plan and recent meetings with the Haddonfield Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) regarding work on the Hopkins parcel and the 1890s building.
She said the HPC has not issued formal approvals but offered feedback that will let the district continue research into materials, window patterns and cupola restoration. Linda said the HPC was generally comfortable with proposed window approaches but asked for additional material samples and documentation for the main cupola; the district plans to research historic glazing and replacement materials before returning to the HPC.
Linda said a keyed service elevator required an adjustment to better fit the building's intended use and that the 1890s building is critical to an extended-day kindergarten plan for next year, so the district is watching that schedule closely.
The board and staff said they will continue a monthly HPC engagement cadence and noted that the HPC meeting had been lengthy but productive, allowing the district to proceed with research and partial approvals that keep the LRFP schedule on track.
No formal municipal approvals were issued at the HPC meeting Sept. 10; district staff said they will bring follow-up materials and revised plans to subsequent HPC meetings.
