Middle school project moves to MSBA closeout phase; final audits expected over next 2–3 years

The Walpole Middle School construction project is entering the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) closeout phase, and officials expect final audits and reimbursement to take two to three years, the committee heard Sept. 11.
A district representative reported that site work is winding down, fields should be ready for spring play and remaining fence and sidewalk work is being finalized. The committee was told that Kate Trott, the district's project manager through Vertex, indicated contracts will be closed shortly and the MSBA closeout phase would begin this fall. "The MSBA closeout phase is expected to take 2 to 3 years until the final audit is complete. Reimbursement from the MSBA [will occur] when the audit is complete," the district representative said.
Committee members were told Vertex may recommend one final project meeting to conclude updates because the major work is wrapped up. The committee did not take formal action at the meeting; the update was informational.
