The Canton City Council on Sept. 4 awarded a contract for the Canton Creek pedestrian bridge and sidewalk improvement project to Exelier Construction LLC, the low bidder, for $1,034,700.

Project manager Miss Watson told the council the city received 12 bids and that Exelier Construction was the low bidder. Watson said she checked references with Cherokee County, Roswell and one additional reference and reported favorable feedback.

A council member moved to award the project “to Exelier Construction in the amount of $1,034,700.” The motion was seconded and approved on a voice vote; no roll-call tally was recorded in the meeting transcript.

The city’s construction award moves the project to the implementation phase; staff said they vetted the firm and will proceed with execution of contract documents.
