Mayor Dobie read the proclamation, which cites the U.S. Constitution and the presidential proclamation directing observance of Constitution Week. Members of two local Daughters of the American Revolution chapters, Lucy Martin (Caitlin DAR, Scottsbluff) and Nancy Zimmer (Elizabeth Ramsey DAR, Wheatland), attended and provided pocket-size Constitution booklets and historical remarks to the council. Martin and Zimmer described historical facts about the 1787 Constitutional Convention and the document’s amendments.
Councilman Viktren moved to approve the mayor’s signing of the proclamation; Councilman Deal seconded. The council approved the motion, and Mayor Dobie invited the DAR members for a photo following the vote.
Outcome: Mayor authorized to sign the proclamation; a photo opportunity followed the vote.
