Claremore council authorizes letters supporting Rogers County hazard mitigation plan

An unnamed council member moved that the Claremore City Council issue letters of support for Rogers County’s hazard mitigation plan, saying the letters are needed so the county can get the plan adopted.

The motion grew out of a staff request to sign supporting letters so Rogers County could finish adoption of its hazard mitigation plan. “So that’s all we’re asking you to do is to issue letters of support and support of that so they can get the plan adopted,” the unnamed council member said.

The council member said the city had used an outside contractor in prior plan cycles but this year is working jointly with the county because of planning requirements. “This time, we decided to let the county, go in with the county to kinda do do it jointly because of the planning requirements and stuff,” the speaker said, adding that they had been involved with the process for almost 15 years.
