Environmental health inspector reports multiple restaurant reinspections, ongoing pest-control follow-up

Kyle said he had re-inspected Cedar Market and followed up at Conrad's, New York Spice and Starbucks; issues at those locations had been corrected and no pest activity was observed on reinspection. He said Conrad's receives pest-control visits twice per week and will be reinspected again before the end of the year. "When I went there on Thursday, all the items were corrected, and there was no pest activity observed there," the inspector reported.
Board members asked that certain businesses remain on the Health Department's update list because of recurring concerns. Kyle asked the board to keep a mobile station on the monitoring list after neighbors reported nighttime activity and pests near the station; he said the business had switched to a new pest-control company and was scheduled for weekly service for the next four weeks. The mobile station location discussed in the meeting is at the corner of Railroad and Washington; the inspector said staff would continue to monitor the site and requested the board keep it on the report list.
Members discussed patio doors and screening issues at a restaurant that had attracted complaint calls; Kyle said he and staff had met with the manager and owner and that custom screen work was in progress. The board also confirmed that conditional approvals for new restaurants and for transfers of ownership include a requirement for a pest-control contract as a condition of the full permit.
Specific establishments Kyle mentioned on the record included Cedar Market, Conrad's, New York Spice, China Rama (a complaint-driven follow up), Minerva's, Bruno's pizzeria and Starbucks; most had corrective actions completed or were scheduled for reinspections. The inspector said staff use a ticketing policy to enforce repeated violations and that that mechanism covers issues such as repeatedly propped-open doors that can attract pests.
The board asked staff to continue monitoring locations with recurring issues and to keep the listed establishments on the update list so the board can track progress.
