City reports more than 2,000 volunteers and 3,000 hours for 9/11 Day of Service

Saratoga Springs civic events staff reported Sept. 16 that the city’s 9/11 Day of Service drew more than 2,000 participants and yielded more than 3,000 volunteer hours.
Staff highlighted a variety of projects leading up to and on Sept. 11, including a birthday box project that assembled more than 300 boxes for distribution to Primary Children’s Hospital, a homeless shelter, Tabitha’s Way and individual families in need. Public works staff contributed more than 70 hours on park projects and reported the collection and hauling of more than 3,040 pounds of trash from service sites the day of the event.
Civic events staff and council members emphasized the day’s community value, noting cross‑generational participation and community healing following difficult events earlier in the week. Staff recognized volunteers and partner organizations including the Birthday Box Foundation, Harvest Community Garden, Just Serv and members of the school board who helped organize projects.
Council members thanked volunteers and encouraged continued community participation in service projects.
