Residents press Hideout council for enforcement and speed-calming on West Descent Drive

Hideout — Multiple residents told the Town Council on Sept. 11 that West Descent Drive is being used as a cut-through to the nearby highway and that drivers frequently exceed the 20 mph posted limit, creating hazardous conditions for walkers, bicyclists and residents backing out of driveways.
Kevin Lawford, a resident at 502 West Descent Drive, said drivers regularly exceed the 20 mph limit and that the road now functions as a bike path in places with blind turns. “There’s no enforcement we’ve seen; there’s a real safety problem,” Lawford said during the public-input portion of the meeting.
