The Pocatello City Council on Sept. 4 read two proclamations: one declaring "Kind Week" in Pocatello and Chubbuck and the other declaring September 2025 as National Recovery Month in Pocatello.
Council member Nichols read a proclamation marking the tenth anniversary of Kind Community, which the proclamation and a representative from Kind Community described as a local nonprofit focused on promoting kindness and anti-bullying education. A representative invited the public to "Kind Week" events that kick off Sept. 15 with a celebration at Lookout Point from 5 to 8 p.m. and include a panel discussion at the District 25 administrative offices during the week.
The council also proclaimed National Recovery Month for September 2025; Joanne Martinez, chair of Recovery Fest and an employee of Gateway Counseling, told the council the annual Recovery Fest will be held Sept. 12 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lookout Point (426 West Lewis Street) with community resources and a band. "Recovery month is a great time for us to celebrate recovery and the impact that it has on individuals," Martinez told the council.
Both proclamations invited public participation and were presented without formal opposition. Council members and proclamation presenters encouraged residents to attend the announced events.
