Meridian staff propose modest increases to Lakeview Golf Course fees ahead of public hearing

Garrett White, a city staff member, presented proposed fee adjustments for Lakeview Golf Course, saying the increases were driven by inflationary trends and competitive pricing and that the target was "about 4% increase, across the board through all of our fees."

White told the Meridian City Council that the city adjusted fees to whole-dollar amounts after tax to simplify transactions and that annual passes and some cart fees would rise under the proposal. He said the increases align the course with averages in the Treasure Valley and that the plan is to post the proposed schedule and return for a public hearing in a few weeks.

Council members praised course improvements and staff performance. Councilman Overton said, "I wanna give you a a huge kudos once again... it's impressive that we've done such a great job and the course looks so good." Council President Cavanagh confirmed the golf course "continues to operate now in the black when you don't factor in the cost of the kind of the large scale capital improvements."

Other council members noted the course's value to youth programming and community recreation. Councilman Whitlock recounted seeing high school teams using the facility and said it provides a "wholesome sport and a wholesome activity" for local youth. Several members encouraged staff to proceed with posting the fees for public comment and signaled general support for the proposed adjustments.

White said he would post the fees and return to council for a public hearing, and staff expects to bring a formal hearing item back in the coming weeks. The council did not take a vote on fees at this meeting.
