The Middleton City Council on Wednesday approved a series of consent and community event items, reappointed the current members of the Middleton Youth Council for another term and approved the sale of surplus police equipment to the Wilder Police Department.
The council approved the consent agenda, which included minutes from the Sept. 3 meeting, ratification of payroll for Sept. 5 and accounts payable through Sept. 12. The consent agenda was approved by voice vote.
The council authorized the mayor to approve a special community event application for the Middleton Middle School cross‑country meet on Sept. 18 and waived any appropriate fees. Miss Hobbs, city staff, noted the item had been discussed at the previous meeting and this was the formal authorization.
The council also authorized the mayor to approve a special community event application for the Greater Middleton Parks and Recreation Department to hold a trunk‑or‑treat event on Oct. 30, waive event‑related fees and allow three food vendors and activities. Miss Flores, speaking for Parks and Recreation, said organizers would close the community center lot and ask attendees to park at a nearby church; she said the only small fee planned this year is a chili cook‑off entry fee to offset prize costs.
The council reappointed the current members of the Middleton Youth Council to serve through 30 days prior to the start of the 2026‑27 school year, according to the Middleton School District calendar; council members described the reappointments as routine.
On a separate item, the council approved Resolution 530‑25 to surplus certain items and authorize their sale to the Wilder Police Department; the action was described as the same surplus process considered at the prior meeting. The meeting record shows the resolution was approved by voice vote.
Ending: Council members indicated they will continue routine oversight of event permitting and staffing and encouraged volunteers for community events.
