The City of Passaic Council adopted four traffic- and parking-related ordinances during its Sept. 16 meeting, voting unanimously on each measure after public hearing and brief council discussion.
Votes at a glance
- Ordinance 24-95-25 (State Street Municipal Park/Union Deck Fees): Adopted by roll call; yes votes recorded from Councilman Mello, Councilman Mayer, Councilman Garcia, Councilman Colombo Daniel and Council President Schier.
- Ordinance 24-96-25 (Add stop sign at Monroe Street/ Hope Avenue): Adopted by roll call; same five-member yes tally.
- Ordinance 24-97-25 (Angle parking schedule): Adopted by roll call.
- Ordinance 24-98-25 (Designation of restricted parking for disabled persons): Adopted by roll call.
Council opened public hearings for each ordinance, received no substantive public opposition on those items and moved each to final adoption by recorded vote. For Ord. 24-95-25 the council opened the hearing at the Sept. 16 meeting and later the clerk recorded the motion and a unanimous roll-call adoption.
Business Administrator Rick Fernandez and other staff handled procedural questions; no member offered substantive changes to the text on the floor. The mayor and council noted the ordinances were routine measures addressing parking management, safety and access.
None of the ordinances’ effective dates or fee schedules were specified on the public record during the hearing beyond the ordinance text; staff will publish finalized text and effective dates in the city’s ordinance repository and notices to affected streets or facilities.
The council also approved a bundle of other routine agenda items and communications in the same meeting.
