At the Sept. 15, 2025 meeting, Planning/Appearance Commission staff presented a new-member orientation packet intended to help commissioners understand the commission’s role and the certificate-of-appropriateness process. Staff said the packet was prepared following a suggestion from Dr. McCoy, who raised the topic after attending a training in Kernersville.
Town staff (Dawn) told the commission that at its recent meeting the town council approved amendments to the beautification-awards program; the first nominations under the amended rules will be accepted in April of next year. Staff asked commissioners to review the orientation packet and suggest items to add or remove.
No formal action by the Appearance Commission was recorded on the orientation packet or on the beautification-awards update; the items were presented as staff updates.
