Cole County approves renewal of AP Triton contract to prepare GEMT reimbursement report

Cole County commissioners on Sept. 16 approved a one-year professional services contract with AP Triton for preparation of the county's 2024-25 Ground Emergency Medical Transport (GEMT) cost report.
An AP Triton representative told the commission the firm has prepared the county's GEMT reports in recent years and has produced conservative, accurate returns after an earlier vendor produced a report that required paybacks. "It's $7,500 to prepare the report, and then they take 3 percent of the gross GEMT return as well," the representative said. The representative characterized the firm's approach as conservative and said the company has produced additional reimbursements for the county since beginning the engagement.
A commissioner moved to approve and sign the professional services contract for the 2024-25 GEMT return; another commissioner seconded the motion and the commission voted in favor.
The contract will allow AP Triton to compile financial and operational data required to seek federal reimbursement that offsets Medicare-related losses for county emergency medical transport services. The motion included authorization to sign the one-year renewal so the vendor may begin work on the 2024-25 cost report.
No implementation schedule or expected reimbursement amount was stated at the meeting.
