The Montezuma County Board of County Commissioners on Sept. 16 approved a slate of routine land-use and administrative items, including two minor subdivision actions, county payables, purchase of a landfill loader and a special-event liquor permit for an October fundraiser.
Votes at a glance

- Landfill loader purchase: The board awarded purchase of a landfill loader to Wagner Caterpillar for $214,417.64; commissioners noted availability (delivery within about 10 days) as a deciding factor in addition to price.
- Special-event liquor permit for Pretty in Pink (Cancer Resource Alliance): Commissioners approved a special-event liquor permit for the Cancer Resource Alliance for an Oct. 16 fundraiser at 26650 Road P in Dolores. Representatives from the Cancer Resource Alliance described the group as a volunteer 501(c)(3) that provides direct grants to county residents undergoing cancer treatment; they said first-time applicants receive $600 and repeat applicants $300 this year. Jerry Frizzell, county clerk's staff who processes liquor permits, confirmed paperwork and event containment plans were in order.
Each item was moved, seconded and approved during the meeting; recorded roll-call or voice votes showed the board's unanimous approval on the listed items. The county clerk will record the approved documents and vendor purchase orders in the county record.
