The Lake County Board of County Commissioners voted to table consideration of an agreement with Reynolds Ash and Associates, PLLC to serve as architect of record for the Lake County Courthouse renovation until noon the next day so legal review can be completed.
County Manager Candace Bryant told the board that the contract needed revisions to meet requirements tied to congressionally directed spending and that comments from the county legal team had been returned to the architect. She recommended legal review before final approval. “We just got the comments back from Colleen Kaneda and her team as to the revisions that were needed to the agreement in order to accommodate these new requirements,” Bryant said.
Commissioners said they had not seen the revised contract in the meeting packet and requested time to review the document before voting. Staff agreed to upload the corrected contract and to convene a short special meeting at noon the following day (after a scheduled CBOE/BOE hearing) so the board could consider the item once members had time to read the revisions. One commissioner said a special meeting should take about 10 minutes once the document is posted and reviewed.
A motion to table until noon the next day was made and seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Staff noted the project team is already working on the courthouse and that timing is constrained by federal requirements associated with the funding source.
