Commissioners approve conditional-use permit allowing temporary outdoor storage of five commercial vehicles on 36-acre Adams County property
Summary
The Board of County Commissioners approved RCU2023-56, granting a five-year conditional-use permit for the accessory outdoor storage of up to five commercial vehicles on an Agriculture-3 parcel, with 19 conditions including a requirement that the property owner reside on the site during the permit term.
The Adams County Board of County Commissioners approved a conditional-use permit (RCU2023-56) on Sept. 16 to allow the accessory outdoor parking and storage of up to five commercial vehicles on a 36-acre parcel in an Agriculture-3 (A-3) zone. The board voted 3-0 to approve the permit with 19 conditions and one staff note; the permit is valid for five years.
County staff said the application originated from a compliance action that began in August 2023 and that the applicants filed for the permit in September 2023. Because the application was submitted before Adams County adopted new outdoor vehicle-storage regulations in October 2024, staff evaluated the request under the 2023 standards then in effect. Under those older standards, accessory outdoor storage of oversized vehicles on residential agriculture parcels was allowed by conditional use.
