HAMPTON COUNTY, S.C. — Hampton County’s finance director on Monday presented a monthly financial report covering activity through Aug. 31, 2025, and told council the county is continuing a controlled purchasing posture while staff training on the new system is completed.
Finance Director Miss Lewis said the report — which will be posted to the county website — shows the fiscal year is about 16.7% complete and that revenues typically increase between December and March. She described the current period as the “leaner time” for revenue receipts and said departments may place orders through finance, but the department-level purchasing roll-out remains pending while staff training continues.
Lewis told council she aims to produce the reports earlier and display them during meetings so citizens can view them in real time. She confirmed the reports are unaudited and recommended adding a watermark to that effect on future releases.
Council members asked questions. Councilman Love praised the timeliness of the Aug. 31 report. Council members also discussed a recent landfill-related citizen call that was handled by county staff and clarified that a Facebook page called “Hampton County announcement” is not the official county government page.
