Oakland County facilities staff told commissioners the county will recommend purchase of a house at 1600 Scott Lake Road in Washington Township to incorporate the parcel into Waterford Oaks Park. The committee recommended the purchase agreement to the full board on a 5-0 vote.
Melissa said the property appraised at $270,000 and the owner accepted the county’s offer. She said the parcel sits just south of the main entrance to Waterford Oaks Park and adjacent to a previously acquired greenhouse/staging area. Staff said the county may use the house temporarily while reworking the park master plan but expects to remove the building and fold the land into park facilities or realign park access as future planning dictates.
Commissioners asked whether the house would be repurposed; staff said the likely outcome is removal and incorporation of the parcel into the park. The committee approved the recommendation; staff will proceed with closing steps after standard due diligence.
