The Graham County Planning and Zoning Commission voted to forward a favorable recommendation to the Board of Supervisors on a conditional use permit application to operate a wedding and event venue at 30446 East High Mesa Road.
Planning staff told the commission the property previously held a use permit for the same operation. Staff explained that a special-use permit typically stays with a property when sold, but a conditional use permit expires on sale and must be reapplied for by a new owner.
Applicant Savannah Peterson said she and her partner purchased the property and want to operate it both as a residence and as an outdoor wedding and event venue. "We did purchase the property both as a residential and as a commercial enterprise. So we would appreciate the opportunity to operate sort of on the same basis as a wedding and event venue, for outdoor events to offer another area in the community, for people to to be out and and hold their events," Peterson told the commission.
Staff read the application as COP2501, APN 10605392, covering 2.5 acres at what staff described as 30446 East High Mesa Road near Barney Lane and north of High Mesa Road. No written opposition was reported to the commission.
A commissioner moved and a second was recorded to forward a favorable recommendation to the Board of Supervisors; commissioners indicated unanimous agreement. The Board of Supervisors will consider final approval at a future meeting.
