Saline County schedules fall Clean County cleanup for Sept. 27; recycling partners to accept mattresses and tires

Saline County announced its fall "Great Clean County" volunteer cleanup for Sept. 27, with organizers urging residents to help clear litter from three focus areas.

A county representative told the court the cleanup will concentrate on Jackman Road; Steel Bridge (from Roswell to Congo, as read in the record); and Long Hills and Shenandoah (both from Salt Creek to Congo). Volunteers are asked to meet at the designated sites: organizers will provide signs and printed flyers in the days before the event.

The court official said Recycle Saline and Republic (a waste-services partner identified in the announcement) will accept the collected trash and provide dumping-fee coupons. Saline County residents can pay a $10 fee to receive two coupons to use at the county dump; mattress disposal and a limited tire program were described: Recycle Saline will accept up to four tires per resident per month if the tires are not on rims, and coupons may be used for mattress disposal. Organizers noted the county worked with Recycle Saline earlier this year to reduce mattress fees.

Court members asked logistical questions during the announcement, including how full trailers would be emptied and disposal timing if the dump closed early on cleanup day. Organizers said they would distribute details and documentation to volunteers showing they participated and were eligible for coupon assistance.

Officials said turnout is harder in the fall and encouraged broad participation.
