Secondary roads update: bridge work, Hancock paving adjustments and motor grader operator vacancy posted

Wright County’s secondary roads office updated the Board of Supervisors Sept. 15 on bridge and paving projects and received approval to post a motor grader operator vacancy.
Engineering staff reported the guardrail contractor will pour bridge approaches on Thursday and Friday of the following week, delaying guardrail installation by one week; that change shifts the anticipated opening of the Vospori bridge to around Sept. 30, subject to weather and completion of backfill and guardrail installation.
On paving, crews applied an intermediate lift on Hancock Avenue from Highway 3 south and decided to add a strength-and-leveling course (about 1/2 to 3/4 inch) on remaining sections to address low spots and reduce overrun on the intermediate lift. The contractor had completed about a mile of the leveling lift and work would continue with intermediate and surface lifts; railroad approach sections will be completed under standard railroad approach plans.
The board approved posting a vacancy for a full-time motor grader operator based at the Eagle Grove maintenance facility. The posting sets starting pay at $28.30 per hour for six months (50 cents below base), then $28.55 for the next six months after a positive review, and $28.80 at one year. The position will be posted for a minimum of 10 days, with a current close date set to Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m.
Staff also reported progress on guardrail backfill, sign replacement and ongoing gravel hauling and blading operations in secondary roads.
